I have been involved in the auction industry for over 30 years having joined Lawrences in 1988 and I have been on the SOFAA committee for over 20 years.

In the early years of my career, there were many ways in which those joining the industry were able to improve their knowledge. From the Southampton Institute to ISVA to RICS. Many auction houses had a well-structured route through from starting as a porter and moving into valuations and joining specialist departments.

Today we see a very different landscape and these opportunities no longer exist in the same way. It was in order to fill this vacuum that SOFAA decide to develop a course which can be used by anyone keen to know more about the auction world and the key departments.

Currently we have one course with plans for a higher one eventually.

You have chosen to complete this course including the tests at the end of each until which means you will gain a certificate at the end.
